Comments:

I have worked in banking, as a music teacher, in medical records, as a church administrator, Bible College instructor, as an executive secretary for a senator in the Legislature of the US Virgin Islands, and as the first female radio announcer on WGOD - FM98 in St. Thomas, USVI. I was married for 34 years to my beloved husband until his death in 2016. We lived in Tulsa, OK and St. Thomas, USVI before returning to the DMV and residing in MD. We had international television and radio ministries, and have travelled to more than 30 countries. We started and pastored churches in St. Thomas, Germany, and the U.S., and have been heavily involved in missions in Africa, South Korea, Mexico, Haiti, and throughout the Caribbean. I have recorded one CD, and am working on writing books. I serve on several boards internationally and domestically.

School Story:

While at Tech, I was a sophomore cheerleader and a part of the Yearbook Staff and Gospel Choir. I was a Music Major and played in the Marching Band, Concert Band, Stage Band, and occasionally with the Orchestra. I also was in the musical production of "Tambourines to Glory." I was a member of the DC Youth Chorale. I traveled a lot with the Marching Band and the Chorale. We used to march in the Mardi Gras parades in New Orleans, the Gimball's Thanksgiving Day parades in Philly, and other major nationally known parades. I got to go to Romania, Boston, MA, and Spokane, WA with the Chorale.

My funny school story is about when I decided to play a trick on Mrs. Gilkes and Mrs. Watkins. They would always tell students who chewed gum in class, "If you don't have enough for everyone, you can't chew it in here." I found out that Mrs. Gilkes had never eaten at McDonald's. So, I came up with the idea to get the Music Majors in my Music Theory class to all bring money to school for lunch from McDonald's (which they did). I convinced Darrell "Peanut" Wiseman to take me to pick up the order for the class, including Mrs. Gilkes and Mrs. Watkins. However, somebody ratted me out to Mrs. Gilkes. She had a policy of locking the classroom door just as the last bell rang. (She didn't tolerate anyone being late to her class.) Peanut and I picked up the order from McDonald's and got back well before the late bell rang. However, Mrs. Gilkes locked the door early with us standing in the hallway with the food. She made us sweat for a few minutes, then let us in. To this day, I don't know who ratted us out!
