After graduating from McKinley, I earned my B.A. degree in English Education at Adelphi University (NY); was a teacher of English with Prince George’s County Schools; and was vice president/treasurer, dance instructor, and performer in stage plays and musicals with the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop. I then moved to Dayton, OH, to work in development and public relations at Central State University. I earned my Master of Humanities degree at Wright State University (OH), and my Ed.D. in Educational Foundations at the University of Cincinnati (OH), and then worked in academia & administration at George College & State University (GA) and Wright State University (OH). Upon retirement, I returned to dance and community theater
I became interested in dance when the modern dance group was started by our new PE teacher (I’m trying to remember her name🤔). In our first performance, I was chosen to perform as Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, and in our last performance before graduation in 1965, I was chosen to perform the solo to our retiring principal’s favorite song “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” I didn’t have the previous dance training that most of the dancers in our group had, but I was very good at remembering the dances she choreographed. I remember her yelling “technique, Rudolph, technique” when we were rehearsing.
